Do I need to take the initial assessment before proceeding with my new Carnegie K12 software?

Yes. The Carnegie ESL assessment is used to establish a baseline of over 250 sub-skills in pronunciation, word stress, fluency, and grammar.  The Carnegie ESP (Early Speech) assessment is a guided assessment appropriate for early learners and newcomers of any age.

The assessment scores are used to determine what skills need the most improvement, which is utilized by the Intelligent Tutor system to determine your learning path.  In this way, you can make the most efficient use of your training time, and make the biggest gains in the most needed skills.
